Local Government Reorganisation announcement

  • The Government announced its preferred option for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Lancashire on Thursday 16 July.

  • Subject to parliamentary approval, these four new unitary councils will replace the current 15 councils:

North: Lancaster, Preston and Ribble Valley

    West: Fylde, Wyre and Blackpool

East: Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn, Rossendale, Pendle and Burnley

South: Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire

  • We know change can be challenging, but we are working together to ensure a smooth transition. There will be many positives for staff, partners and local people and we want to make the most of the opportunities that LGR provides.

  • Read more on our LGR staff web page and find out more on our online briefing session from 10am until 12 noon on Thursday 23 July.

  • We will support you through this process with open, honest and regular updates.

  • In the meantime, it is vital that we continue business as usual and provide the best services for the people of Lancashire.
